What This Policy Entails

Our Privacy Policy details why we collect, use and share information in connection to your access and use of our Services. While we value your privacy, we do not cover the privacy practices of third-party companies that aren’t under our control.

What Information We Collect

www.smart-solar-usa.com collects information about you in three basic ways:

A. You give it to us

B. Through automated technology

C. By asking others for it

Information You Provide Us

The information you provide to us is typically collected through our web forms and other Smart Services. Typically, this means that you entered your information in our web forms. We collect, retain and use this information (as well as the information in category 2 and 3) sometimes even if you do not complete the web form.

This information refers to basic questions about you (for solar installers to contact you) and about where you want solar panels installed to match you with a local solar installation company. Your information will typically fit into two categories: personal and non-personal information. Personal information relates to your name, address, email address or phone number. Non-personal information is regarding your household that doesn’t identify you personally (I.E. if you’re a homeowner, who your electric provider is, what your monthly bill is, and products you might be interested in).

When non-personal (like Improvement Information) and personal information is combined, all information collected is treated as personal information.

Information Automatically Collected

For the sake of providing better service, we automatically collect information about how you interact with our Smart Services. We call this Improvement Information for the purposes of this Privacy Policy. Improvement Information guarantees each customer an optimal experience on our site, providing more personalized insights and recommendations to match you with the perfect solar installer. Our various technologies collect and store Improvement Information in connection with the use of our Smart Services. This data includes but isn’t limited to cookies, browser storage, web beacons and other similar technologies. In short, there are four types of Improvement Information we collect:

A. Device Information. Information about your device (such as operating system, hardware model, application or browser type, and other unique identifiers) may be collected to ensure the best experience between you and our site.

B. Log Information. Sometimes we collect information in system logs (or similar files) about how you use our Smart Services (like what buttons you’ve clicked on). This Log Information may include your IP address, browser or device configuration, date and time of access or cookie information.

C. Information Used to Reidentify. Information we collect to re identify you across multiple browsing sessions and devices may be used (for example, connecting your current visit with a prior visit if you provided your name).

D . Depending on your interaction with our Smart Services, we may use certain information like your IP address or Device Information to estimate your location. We may also request to use location-enabled services on your device (provided by GPS or Wi-Fi access point details) to enhance your experience.

We (or other parties we work with), may place or recognize unique cookies or other technology on your browser when you use our website to collect information about your use of our Smart Services in comparison with other online activities over time and across different websites/apps to serve interest-based advertisements to you as you browse the internet.

The government requires that opting out of these collection services for online behavior advertising be done by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) participating companies in the United States. If you’re interested in visiting these sites, please visit: DAA Choices. and DAA AppChoices

A. To opt out of use information regarding your online activities for use in targeted advertising by NAI member companies, visit: NAI. Please note that your opt-out may not completely exclude you from receiving advertisements not customized based on your usage information.

B.Users may choose to set their web browsers in a way that refuses cookies or alert users when their cookies are being used/sent. Your mobile device may also allow you to adjust your privacy and advertising settings to control when you receive relevant advertising about products you’ve shown interest in. However, this may affect the functionality of our services (if you make such changes).

Information Third Parties Provide to Us Regarding You

To provide more tailored services to you, we sometimes collect information from third parties (and publicly available information like demographic data and social platforms). For example, one such use of this information is to verify the email address and phone number you provide us.

Personal information helps provide the optimal Smart Services to you. If you choose not to provide this information, we may not be able to provide Smart Services (preventing you from receiving solar quotes). Any time you disclose personal information pertaining to other people to us or our Trusted Partners in connection with Smart Services, you’re representing that you have the authority to do so and permit us the use of this information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

How We Use the Information We Collect

All information we collect from you and third parties to operate our Smart Services matches you with a solar company to provide quotes for their products and services.

Some examples of the use of information include:

A. Providing Personal Services to You. Your information is integral to providing Smart Services and quotes to you in a personalized way. It’s invaluable to get you in touch with the right solar companies and without your information we would not have a detailed picture of your needs for you and your household.

B. Improving Our Smart Services. We are constantly improving our Smart Services to ensure our customers’ satisfaction. The information we collect improves this experience by helping us match customers to reputable solar companies. An example of this would include if you have not completed the form, saving your information to pre-load it upon your next arrival at your convenience. We may also use the information you provide to detect, deter, prevent action such as suspected fraud, malicious or illegal activities, or violations of our policies.

C. Communicating With You. Part of our personalization of service connects you as quickly as possible to real people who can walk you through the process of installing solar options on your home. Therefore, your information is shared with Trusted Clients who are professionals at providing this assistance with quotes and other services.

If you provide your telephone number and/or email and consent to be contacted by us, we will likely have our Trusted Clients call you to follow up on your inquiry. Companies on this list may also call, text or email you information about solar products, services, and similar services and general offers you may find useful given the information you’ve provided us on our website.

D. Opting Out of Further Communication. Even though our goal is to provide easy contact as directly as possible with solar professionals, if you ask us not to contact you - we won’t contact you. You can easily opt-out of communication from us by requesting to be placed on our Do Not Call list by emailing info@smartsolarsavings.com, replying “STOP” to our texts, or unsubscribing from emails from us.

E. Legally Speaking. We work in a highly regulated industry and therefore reserve the right to access, use, preserve, transfer or disclose at any time (with or without notice to you) information regarding your use of Smart Services as necessary to (a) comply with applicable laws; (b) respond to complaints, legal actions or governmental requests; (c) enforce our Terms of Service; or (d) respond to other similar matters.

When Information is Shared or Sold

Our Smart Services require us to share information with Trusted Partners. While we aim to directly meet our Trusted Partners needs, sometimes we must - with your express permission - sell your information to third parties to help better meet your needs. The following list helps explain this sharing and distribution of information (including personal information) upon the use of our Smart Services:

A. Sharing information with third parties to improve our Smart Services. Since we work so closely with solar product sales and installation providers to provide you personalized solar quotes, when you request a quote we may share your information with solar company partners to generate these quotes for you.

B. Share information with service providers acting on our behalf. We may share information about you with service providers we use to perform any of the activities we are allowed to perform under this Privacy Policy and Terms of Service on our behalf. This could include (but isn’t limited to) sharing your information with data-provider partners to enable them to provide us with information about you to personalize your experience and product recommendations. We may potentially share information with service providers to help us ensure compliance with legal obligations and requirements so we have documentation of your record of consent to be contacted by us or third-party providers. We may share with third-parties de-identified or aggregated data collected (I.E. de-identified demographic information, information regarding computer or device you accessed the service with). We share information for a variety of purposes, including monitoring and understanding how you use our services so we can improve our products and services.

C. Selling information to third-party providers with your permission. Sometimes we feel that our partners can provide helpful products to you. After obtaining your permission, we may sell information to third parties to help you meet your needs. These third parties can consist of solar products and services, data management companies, and other companies that help connect customers with products and services. Third party companies or entities they represent may contact you per your provided consent.

D. As Part of a Corporate Change. We may disclose or transfer your information to a third party due to (or in preparation for) change of control, restructure, corporate change or sale/transfer of assets.

E. Legal Reasons. We reserve the right to disclose information or transfer your information to third parties in the instance of any legal purpose as described above.

How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable safeguards (including administrative, technical, physical and high-tech security measures) to protect all personal information within our organization from the growing threat of data hacking. Unfortunately, data transmission and storage over the internet can never be 100% secure. If you have any reason to believe that your interactions with us are no longer secure, we need your help to notify us (in accordance with the contact methods provided below)
